What's your Giving Story?

"What I believe our school excels at even more than teaching our kids how to be students, is teaching them to have compassion, communication, empathy, kindness, honor, social justice, vulnerability, patience, and collaboration to become decent human beings in a world that desperately needs them.  That is why we give."

This is part of a Giving Story from Sierra Borschel, parent of Reid (Wy'East) and Sage (PDH).

We all give to different things for different reasons, but the common thread is that we give to the things we believe in.

We give time, we give support, and we give thanks.
This month kicks off a season of giving all these things -- and more -- to the people and causes that matter most to our lives.

This week we are talking about GivingTuesday and the Meriwether Fund, a kind of giving that is critical to the health of our school.

It is by no means the only way we give, however. Among the many things you give, we are asking you to give us your stories -- why do you give to the school?

Stand up and let your words be counted -- email Peter ( or reply to this email, and tell us why you give.

Add your story to our groundswell of positivism, and l
et us give you our thanks for ALL your gifts.

And, as always, thanks for reading.
01 - Take an Unselfie for GivingTuesday
In 13 days you will have 24 hours to make a big difference in a community that cares for your children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

On GivingTuesday, make a powerful choice to support a dynamic organization that invests heavily in the people it serves.  Your vital support will help Lewis & Clark Montessori sustain the valuable work it does with your children everyday.

Here are two matches to power up your giving impact:

  • Participate: help us reach our goal of $10,000.  When we do, we will activate a match offered by a group of our loyal donors.

Join the giving movement on November 28th.

Bits & Bobs
Brrrrrr! The mercury is dropping and it's time to weather the winter storms. How prepared are you?
* Please make sure that you are signed up for Flash Alert (psst, click on the link!) to get notice of school closures.
* Help your child make sensible clothing choices -- we go outside rain or shine, and recess is much more fun when you're prepared for the weather!

We are hosting a workshop for The National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector and Montessori Northwest on Friday, December 1st.
We are the largest Montessori school in the state of Oregon, and a growing example in the public Montessori world.
This is a chance for us to show off our stellar food program (by serving lunch to participants) while supporting the growth of public Montessori.

Music Class for parents and their toddlers! Learn, laugh, and get lyrical with our music teacher, Kami, from 9:45-10:30 on Tuesdays. This is a FREE class, though donations are gladly accepted to help support music at Lewis & Clark Montessori.

Help us get the word out about Explore Art -- post flyers around town and spread the word to crafty vendors.

Join a committee! We've got a few, take your pick. There's always room for your area of expertise and enthusiasm.
