Artes Vitae

Half notes for the quarter.

Ask most students what they like best about school, and they'll tell you: recess.

Ask many of our staff members, and if they think no one else is listening, they'll tell you: recess.

We all get an extra kick in our step and sparkle in our eye after getting outside, moving around, and seeing people outside of our normal classroom sphere.

The best part, however, is watching the Practice Society of children at work. The challenges and tests they set for themselves, new skills they strive to conquer, and deep alliances made, lost and reborn.
Of course, a goodly part of every society is conflict management, and the playground sees its share of that, too.

The stunning thing is how apparent it is that these growing humans are taking our lessons of care to heart.

They protect those who are injured, they comfort those who are sad, and they rejoice in each others' triumphs.

Sometimes we have to hunt far and wide for heartening news in the world. We are fortunate, then, that we have so much of it here, every day, within arm's reach.

Take care. And, as always, thanks for  reading.

01 - Thank you to all our donors!
You helped us raise nearly 70% of our goal in one day.  Awesome!

60 donors gave $6,905.  Of these, 36 donors are current families.  This is a 15% family participation rate.

Super busy? Slipped your mind?  Forgot to give amidst the Holidaze?  Don't give up!

You can still participate through December 5th -- but we won't make it on good wishes and generous thoughts alone.

Just think, 30 new donors at $100 gets us to our goal.  Reaching our goal earns us an achievement match of $3500.  Together, we got this.

Yes! I want to give now.

Psssst, don't forget that we're full of thanks, too. Participants are automatically entered to win one of the following:

  • A month of school lunches OR a fee-free school trip for one child
  • Two complimentary tickets to our Spring for Education Auction on Saturday, March 17, 2018
  • School spirit pack

Food Drive
Share the bounty of the season's feasting! From now until January 12th, bring non-perishable food items to the red collection bin in the foyer.
We are accepting all non-perishable and canned goods, but ask that you consider what you might want to see in your own pantry; tuna, peanut butter, nutritious grains, cooking oil, rice, shelf-stable milk and the likes. These items are sought after, and make people happy to receive

Half of the donated food will be shared with Snowcap Community Charities as part of their
Fill-A-Bag: Help Stop Hunger drive, and the other half will go to local seniors we already serve.  This food drive is a step toward the MAC students' goal of establishing a food pantry to serve our area.
