Artes Vitae

What thou art, by art as well as by nature.

I don't know if you've noticed, but ours is an extraordinarily creative community.

In fact, we have so many artists, children of artists, friends of artists, and artsy artists in this community that one would be forgiven for thinking we were an arts type of school.

There are surely many reasons for this, but one of the biggest is that we so highly value art in all its forms. Values tend to attract each other, so it's no surprise that our staff is pret-ty artistic as well.

This translates into allll kinds of art with your kids. Everything from performance arts to language arts to visual arts -- these areas are given full expression in the classroom along with other 'academic' subjects.
Don't take our word for it -- come see for yourself. This Friday's Explore Art event from 5-8pm is our biggest annual celebration of all our creative endeavors.

We invite all and sundry to showcase their art, but the headliners are the students, staff, and parents from our own community.

Prepare to be amazed, excited, and hopefully inspired. Everyone has at least a little of the artist glimmering in their soul, whatever form it takes.

Perhaps your attendance this year will give flight to your fancy and courage to your will to be a participant next year. Whatever it is you're making or doing, this community would love to see it.

See you there. And, as always, thanks for reading.

I have a really good feeling...
Congratulations to our community!

GivingTuesday by the numbers:
  • Thanks to 95 donors,
  • we exceeded our Giving Tuesday goal by over 50%.
  • With the power of generosity we supported our school to the tune of $15,615.
  • 24% of our current families participated this year.  Thank you!

Many thanks to our event sponsor, Tax Minimizers of Oregon.

And to our loyal supporters who generously offered a goal achievement match: Michael & Rose Bontemps, Carlene Rowe, James & Jackie Gunther and Lynsey Pestes.

Missed GivingTuesday? Hoping to give before the end of the year for the tax benefit? Don't despair. You can participate in the Meriwether Fund at any time.

Please remember, you can join our monthly givers by becoming the newest member of the Circle of Champions.  As a monthly donor, you can increase your impact over time and budget your giving throughout the year.
Don't Forget!
Our Food Drive is still going strong -- toss some non-perishable foods into the car before you head to school, bring some with you to Explore Art, and challenge your kids to come up with five things they think a family experiencing food scarcity would be excited to see this holiday season!

In case you miss the word: yes, we are having a winter concert!

Join us here in the New Year: on January 18th, students in Beginning Band and Orchestra, Concert Band and Orchestra, and Choir will perform their first term works for the community.

Celebrate our performers and our music program -- we are fortunate to have so much music gracing our school!
