The lights are on, we are definitely home.

Have you noticed? The days are definitely longer. We've had to reach for our sunglasses more than a couple times. Kids are shedding layers outside like they're handing out prize money.

In the microcosm of our little community, we are starting to expand our world, too. Spring camping trips are on the horizon for many classrooms, as is state testing, the MAC play, and (of course!) the auction.
Your child's teacher is a great resource for all your ideas and concerns, keep your eyes peeled for conference sign-ups to discuss your burning questions.

This is also a good time to take stock of your volunteer hours -- 40 hours can seem overwhelming, but we have so many ways to fulfill them, just ask us how!

The weekly news is full of opportunities; giving back is one of the core tenets of our philosophy. It helps us, helps your child, and gives you a special glow.

And, as always, thank you for reading.

Everyone is invited to join us for our next Group Run/Walk on February 10th.  We will meet at 9am at Gresham Main City Park where it joins the Springwater Trail.  Afterward, those who can gather at Jazzy Bagels for a bit of socializing. See you there.  Questions? Emailpjensen@lcmcs.org

Play Cupid for a day (or two) and get a twofer. Thanks to our partnership with Nancy's Flowers in Gresham, we can help them out during one of their busiest times of the year while supporting our school.

As a volunteer delivery driver on February 13th and/or 14th, spread the love and earn the school ~$50 by making 10 deliveries.  Do you have 2, 4 or 6 hours to be of service to our school and to one of our local business partners?  Bonus! February's book is News of the World by Paulette Jiles.

Ms. Jiles writes eventful books that bring the natural world to life. A 2016 National Book Award nominee, News of the World tells a simple story:

Set against the backdrop of a tumultuous moment in American history, Capt. Jefferson Kyle Kidd is content making a living as an itinerant news reader in Texas in the winter of 1870. Once day, he is charged with a difficult mission. A young white girl has been “rescued” from the Kiowa Indians who kidnapped her four years earlier. Capt. Kidd is tasked with taking her to the San Antonio region and reuniting her with her closest living relatives, an aunt and uncle.

Let me call you sweetheart...  Just in time for Valentines Day we are sweetening our Spring for Education Auction tickets with an added FREE Hot Air Balloon Ride raffle ticket! Buy your tickets Monday-Wednesday next week, and we'll put your name in the hopper at the auction -- plus a little extra love.  This year, treat your honey to a party for a great cause!

We are hitting the streets, knocking on doors, and calling in favors to find some great auction items for our guests this year. Expect to see $3000 worth of dental work from Harmony Orthodontia, winery tours, unique staff experiences, and more!
