Summer's coming around the mountain when she comes...

We are very excited to announce Lewis & Clark Montessori's newest community partnership with Trackers Earth. If you are not yet acquainted, Trackers is a local outdoor skills organization that has grown into a summer camps behemoth for the entire Portland Metro Area.

Offering camps for all ages, children and adults alike can learn everything from blacksmithing to archery to ancient ninja skills and more from their engaging and highly skilled staff.

In the past, camp attendees living outside of Portland had to drive into one of their main campuses in town -- worth it, but time consuming.

This summer, our school will be an eastside drop-off site for wilderness, river, and woodscraft camps for elementary-aged students (click on link and scroll down to the 'Happy Valley' camps for details).
Campers will meet at our school, then travel to a nearby natural area for the day, returning for pickup or their after care program.

Is your child a bit too young for Tracker camps? We are considering offering a day camp run by Lewis & Clark Montessori staff for ages 2-7.

First, we need your advice! We want to make sure we build around YOUR needs -- to that end, please take this briefest of surveys to let us know what they are.

These seven quick multiple-choice questions will help us make the best choices in designing the most useful program for your family. Give it a try!

In the meantime, we have a slew of upcoming events -- just clap your eyes on our calendar, take a deep breath, and get ready for this last ride before summer.

And, as always, thank you for reading.

Upcoming Staff Experiences

Looking for something special to do over Cinco de Mayo weekend? How about one of these Staff Experiences!

  • Columbia Gorge Journey Through Time: Join Ali Sullivan and Vivian Aubrey on a day trip exploring the geology of one of our state's most distinctive natural features. May 5th, 10am-4pm. Eight spaces left for adults and interested older children ($40).
  • Game Night: Peter Jensen hosts an evening at Gresham's Off The Charts Game store on May 5th from 5:30 to 8:30. Discover new games your family can enjoy again, or play old favorites! Food and beverages will be available ($30)
  • Disc Golfing: If golfing is described as 'a long walk, interrupted', disc golf is like a leisurely hike through scenic woods (interrupted by extra fun). See what it's all about and spark a new outdoor interest in time for summer on May 6th from 10-2 with Remmy Renwick. Discs provided, bring a sack lunch -- four spaces left! ($40)

Running behind?
Times change, weather changes, and our timeliness changes...
Please be mindful that staff members open car doors in the morning until 8am -- after that we have to go make school happen!

Recently we've had a large influx of cars dropping off after
8am, which affects our children getting ready for the day and really backs up traffic on 232nd Drive, causing congestion and potential driving hazards.

Running Ahead?
Spring In Our Step is May 11th!

Get involved in an exciting, high-energy event! Volunteer for Spring In Our Step 2018 from 8-11 am on May 11th.  A panoply of volunteers are needed to make this big spring Runraiser go. What's in it for you? You get: fresh air, volunteer hours and many happy faces. Our students get: an awesome event. Email Mishawn at mnelson@lcmcs.org and mark your calendars!
