Artes Vitae

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

In times past, we'd catch up over the fencepost. You would tell us the news of your world,  we'd talk about ours. We would understand, intrinsically, how important we are to each others' lives and wellbeing, and how sharing this information is the key to caretaking our community.

Today, we have a newsletter in lieu of that fencepost. It is our mission, nay, our passion, to make this weekly email a good use of your time.

Above all, we wish to ensure that you, the community, has access to all the information you need.

Today we are launching a new email platform to better serve that mission. Hopefully it proves to be prettier, easier, intuitive, and more responsive.

Pardon our dust while we whip this site into shape, hopefully you will find something new that takes your fancy along with many of the same features you're used to. If you are ablaze with great ideas, comments, or helpful advice, email Vivian: vaubrey@gmail.com

And always, thank you for reading.

Add a little spice to your life.

  • Prepare meals in the kitchen. We need help every day of the week -- choose one or more days to come in for at least two hours between 8am-3pm. Commit for a week, a month, or all year long, it's up to you! We will happily feed you lunch as an extra thanks.
  • Take a couple of vacuums to Stark's Vacuums in Gresham for servicing

You can donate time or dollars to fulfill your family's annual commitment of 40 volunteer hours. Log your hours on our website or in the office. Direct volunteering questions to Mishawn Nelson: mnelson@lcmcs.org.

We are major child development & education nerds here at Lewis & Clark HQ, some of us in particular (ahem). As such, we do a lot of reading, and we believe in sharing with our friends. If you're looking for something to while away some time with, try these on for size. See you in a tick. Enjoy!**

Let's start at the very beginning: the first year of life. This article by National Geographic describes an infant's tremendous cognitive journey, and how the first years sets us up for life. You'll never look at babies the same way again. Don't take my word for it, just click:
